Charlie teaches a multitude of classes - all based on a principles-based teaching approach to the material. This is the same way that AT Still taught his courses. These are not like the now more traditionally taught osteopathic “technique” classes that teach you only how to mimic the instructor - Dr. Still never taught technique and preached against it. These courses teach you how to think osteopathically - how to make sense of what you palpate and understand what it means in the body. Each course covers pertinent anatomy - this is the foundation of osteopathy. The biological laws that cover the movement of the studied tissue will also be discussed. This gives the student an understanding, based on current science, of how that tissue should behave. Then we apply the principles - to diagnose and to develop a treatment based on what you feel. You will actually build the “technique” or treatment from the principles, each and every time - and this allows you to not only understand the how’s and whys of what you are doing more clearly, but allows you to be more precise, get quicker results, and invent your own variations and special applications when needed. It also reinforces the principles! Each course has in-depth diagnosis portions and Charlie will help you make certain that you are palpating the correct layer and tissue to make the correct diagnosis and render the appropriate treatment. This teaching method, while rare in osteopathy, pays huge dividends when you are back in your office treating patients - you don’t have to remember the technique, just apply the principles! The feedback from these courses is amazing and people continue to want more.

I teach many of these courses from my office location in Indianapolis, IN. These courses are typically limited to ten people (the amount that will easily fit into the space) and run from Friday after lunch till folks have to leave on Sunday. That gives you time for an early flight in and time to get home, so there is minimal time out of your practice. The Indy airport is fairly easy to get in and out of. Classes are kept small on purpose - not only so we can effectively cover the material, but so that you can get individual instruction. Please register early as classes fill up and my office space won’t hold 11…
Larger classes are offered from time to time. We will rent a hotel conference room and hold the course there. Charlie also teaches with the American Academy of Osteopathy, the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy, the Osteopathic Cranial Academy and the Indiana Academy of Osteopathy.
